With the craziness of 2020 and a year of barely any travel, are you feeling like we do and desperate to experience new things and places? After such a turbulent year we can’t wait to be able to travel again once it’s safe to do so. We want to see old and new friends, create new memories in some of the places we’ve dreamt of going to, and just do things we’ve wanted to do for such a long time. Does that sound like you too? Ask yourself, what does 2021 look like for you?
Is it time to grab life by the hands and turn those dreams a reality? The dreams that have been lingering in your mind for a while now.
Now is the perfect time to set some foundations for something new. To prepare yourself for when you can travel freely and the world opens up endless opportunities once again.
Here are some things to think of or to try that could help you on your way:
1 – Learn a new language
Language skills are so sought after and are especially desirable in teaching roles. If you do decide down the line to look at a career in teaching, while having a second language isn’t a requirement, it will benefit you when you’re integrating into a new culture.
2 – Take an online course
We all know that everything is online these days. You can take a course in just about anything. Some companies are even offering free courses. Maybe now is the time to brush up on your graphic design skills, try your hand at calligraphy or ever learn how to code. Check out The Open University who have over 900 free courses available.
Or how about you prepare for a life teaching English abroad by getting your TEFL certificate? To teach at York English and at most ESL schools, you will need to have completed your course before you fly out to your new job.
3 – Think about what you enjoy
What do you get the most joy out of doing? Take that and use it. Is there an option to develop some further skills or knowledge in what it is that really makes your heart sing? You never know where this could lead you in the future if you decided you wanted to make a career out of a hobby or passion that you adore.
We’ve all been through so much over the past 12 months. Whilst we don’t know exactly when things will return to ‘normal’, perhaps it makes sense to start thinking about how we can use this time wisely. By wisely, we mean to use it in a way that benefits you in the long run. Thinking of the steps you can take now to establish what your 2021 will look like for you! Is it time to start building the life you desire?
